GIGAette has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS), the world’s largest LNG importer, to deploy CryoIMS monitoring systems across KOGAS’s LNG receiving terminals in South Korea.
Background
KOGAS operates three major LNG receiving terminals — Incheon, Tongyeong, and Samcheok — handling over 40 million tonnes of LNG annually. Accurate and reliable level monitoring inside cryogenic storage tanks is critical for operational safety and inventory management.
“Traditional level gauging systems require multiple tank penetrations, each introducing potential leak points and thermal bridges. CryoIMS’s single-flange approach fundamentally changes this equation.”
— Dr. Park Joonhyung, Director of Terminal Operations, KOGAS
Scope of Partnership
The partnership covers three key phases:
- Pilot Installation (Q2 2026) — Deployment of CryoIMS Full systems on two 200,000 m³ LNG tanks at the Incheon terminal for a 6-month validation period.
- Performance Evaluation (Q4 2026) — Independent measurement comparison against existing radar-based gauging systems, with focus on accuracy, drift, and maintenance requirements.
- Phased Rollout (2027–2028) — Conditional on pilot results, expansion to additional tanks across all three terminals.

Technical Advantages for LNG
CryoIMS offers distinct advantages for LNG storage monitoring:
- Zero liquid leakage risk — The internal differential pressure measurement principle requires minimal tank penetration, preserving insulation integrity.
- No moving parts — Unlike float-based or servo gauges, CryoIMS has no mechanical components inside the cryogenic zone, dramatically reducing maintenance.
- Multi-parameter sensing — Level, pressure, and temperature from a single instrument, reducing the number of tank nozzles required.
- Power-free measurement principle — The conductive heater leverages ambient thermal energy, with electrical power needed only for signal transmission.
Industry Impact
This partnership represents a significant validation of CryoIMS technology by one of the world’s leading LNG operators. If the pilot program succeeds, it could set a precedent for LNG terminals globally, particularly as the industry moves toward larger tank capacities where traditional measurement methods face increasing accuracy challenges.
